Head of Enterprise Systems

Slate AutoTroy, MI

About The Position

As the Head of Enterprise Systems at Slate, you will be the leader of our operational backbone. In the world of EV manufacturing, the "digital thread" – the flow of data from a purchase order to a shop-floor robot to a customer’s driveway – is what determines our speed to market. You will define how we track every dollar, every bolt, and every battery cell. This is a high-impact leadership role where you will balance the stability of "out-of-the-box" enterprise software with the agility of custom-built solutions, ensuring our systems scale as fast as our production lines. The Head of Enterprise Systems reports directly to the Chief Information Officer.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • Experience: 15+ years of experience in Enterprise Systems / IT leadership, specifically within manufacturing, automotive, or complex hardware environments.
  • Lifecycle Mastery: Proven experience leading full-cycle implementations of major ERP or MES platforms.
  • Process Expertise: Deep knowledge of supply chain logistics, inventory management (WMS), and shop-floor control systems.
  • Integration Fluency: Understanding of how to connect disparate systems via APIs, middleware, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) or similar frameworks.
  • Scaling Experience: Experience transitioning a company from early-stage / scrappy systems to enterprise-grade, SOX-compliant infrastructure.
  • Systems Thinker: You see the company as a series of interconnected loops. You understand how a delay in procurement ripples through the MES and eventually hits the financial ledger.
  • Pragmatic Visionary: You know that "perfect is the enemy of shipped." You can implement a "Minimum Viable ERP" today while planning for a global scale-up tomorrow.
  • Diplomat: You are skilled at managing stakeholders with competing priorities, helping them find common ground on process and data standards.
  • Technical Leader: You are comfortable managing both functional consultants and software developers, ensuring that custom integrations are robust and maintainable.
  • Must have the ability to travel (up to 25%).
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Architecture: Lead ongoing evaluation, design, and implementation of our core tech stack, including ERP (Finance), WMS (Warehouse), MES (Manufacturing Execution), Procurement systems, and more.
  • Bridge the Physical & Digital: Design the end-to-end processes that connect supply chain logistics to the factory floor, ensuring seamless data flow between manufacturing hardware and enterprise software.
  • Buy vs. Build Strategy: Make high-stakes calls on when to deploy industry-standard platforms (like SAP or NetSuite) versus when to build proprietary software to give Slate a competitive edge.
  • Cross-Functional Orchestration: Act as the primary partner to the CFO, Head of Supply Chain, Head of Manufacturing, and more to translate business requirements into technical workflows.
  • Process Engineering: You aren't just "installing software"—you are designing the business processes (Procure-to-Pay, Order-to-Cash, Plan-to-Produce) that will define how Slate operates.
