About The Position

Citi Wealth is seeking a highly experienced and visionary leader to join our team as the Head of Digital Advisory and Financial Planning Experience Technology. This critical role will be responsible for defining, developing, and executing the technology strategy and roadmap for our digital advisory platforms and financial planning tools, enabling our advisors and clients to achieve their financial goals through innovative, intuitive, and scalable solutions. The successful candidate will lead a global team of engineers working closely with business stakeholders, product owners, design teams, and other technology groups to deliver best-in-class digital experiences. This role requires a deep understanding of wealth management, financial planning methodologies, digital advisory solutions, and a proven track record in leading large-scale technology transformations in a complex financial services environment, with a strong emphasis on modern technical stacks and AI-driven experiences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 15+ years of experience in technology leadership roles, with at least 8+ years focused on digital advisory, financial planning, or wealth management technology.
  • Proven experience leading large, complex technology programs and transformations in a global financial institution, with significant hands-on involvement in architectural decisions.
  • Demonstrable track record of building and scaling innovative digital products and platforms from conception to launch, including those powered by Artificial Intelligence.
  • Strong understanding of wealth management products, services, regulatory landscape, and the evolving digital advisory ecosystem.
  • Extensive experience with modern architectural patterns (e.g., microservices, APIs, event-driven architectures) and significant hands-on or leadership experience with key technologies including:
  • Backend development: Java ecosystem, particularly Spring Boot and Spring Cloud frameworks.
  • Frontend development: Modern JavaScript frameworks, specifically Angular.
  • AI/ML: Designing, implementing, and integrating AI/ML models to create intelligent user experiences in financial applications.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Kubernetes).
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a strong technical acumen.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with a proven ability to attract, develop, and retain top technical talent.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and translate business needs into technical requirements.
  • Ability to influence and drive change at all levels within the organization, advocating for technical excellence and innovation.
  • Deep analytical skills and data-driven decision-making capabilities, especially in optimizing AI-driven features.
  • Strong understanding and practical experience with agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
  • Results-oriented with a strong focus on execution and delivery of high-quality, scalable technical solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and articulate a compelling technology vision and strategy for digital advisory and financial planning within Citi Wealth, aligning with overall business objectives and long-term growth aspirations. This includes identifying opportunities for leveraging emerging technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
  • Roadmap Definition & Execution: Own the end-to-end technology roadmap, including prioritization, resource allocation, and timely delivery of features and platforms that enhance the advisor and client experience. Drive the adoption of cutting-edge technologies for responsive and scalable solutions.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing global technology team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Provide technical guidance and architectural oversight, particularly for teams working with modern frontend (e.g., Angular) and backend (e.g., Spring Boot) frameworks.
  • Platform Modernization & AI Integration: Drive the modernization of existing platforms and the adoption of new technologies (e.g., AI/ML, cloud-native architectures, advanced analytics) to create a flexible, scalable, and resilient technology ecosystem. Specifically, lead the development and integration of AI-powered experiences to enhance financial planning and advisory services.
  • Technical Architecture & Standards: Define and enforce robust technical architecture standards, ensuring solutions are built with scalability, security, and performance in mind. Guide the selection and implementation of core technologies like Spring for microservices and Angular for rich user interfaces.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate extensively with senior business leaders, product managers, operations, risk, compliance, and other technology partners to gather requirements, manage expectations, and ensure successful delivery.
  • Vendor & Partner Management: Evaluate, select, and manage relationships with third-party vendors and strategic partners to leverage external capabilities and accelerate development, especially in areas of AI and specialized financial technology.
  • Client & Advisor Experience: Champion a client-centric and advisor-centric approach, ensuring that technology solutions meet user needs, improve efficiency, and drive adoption, with a focus on intuitive interfaces built with modern web technologies.
  • Risk & Controls: Ensure all technology solutions adhere to Citi's robust risk and control frameworks, regulatory requirements, and cybersecurity standards.
  • Budget Management: Manage the technology budget for digital advisory and financial planning, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and demonstrable ROI.
