About The Position

RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential Functions – Coach and administrate all aspects of the cross-country program. Assist in all aspects of the track and field program. Coordinate the on campus intramural program. Evaluate and recruit student-athletes for the cross country/track and field programs. Work within policy guidelines and regulations of the Hutchinson Community College Athletic Department, the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference, and the NJCAA. Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position. Comply with HutchCC policies, procedures, and practices. Secondary – Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Athletic Director. QUALIFICATIONS (Essential): Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s degree preferred. Successful background in coaching track and field preferred. Successful management of budgets. Successful background in the recruitment process of student athletes preferred. The ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, faculty, staff, administration, alumni, media and the general public. Physical requirements include excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; Visual acuity to view a computer terminal; use appropriate judgment and to apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations; Moderate outdoor and indoor work environment. Mental requirements include the ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions about the position. Physical and mental qualifications must be performed with or without a reasonable accommodation. SALARY and STATUS: The Salary is commensurate with qualifications as determined by HutchCC administration. This full-time administration position is 12 months annual, at-will, benefit eligible and exempt. HutchCC CSA Job Description Addendum: Satisfy the duties of a Campus Security Authority (CSA) relating to Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (“Clery Act”) by: Promptly reporting Clery Act crimes and/or allegations of Clery Act crimes to the designated HutchCC official(s) in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures; Completing any HutchCC provided CSA training regarding campus safety and crime reporting issues; Assisting in the issuance of timely warnings and emergency notifications in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures; Serving as a resource to students, employees, and others regarding crime prevention, reporting and victim assistance; and Collaborating with the Coordinator of Campus Safety, the Coordinator of Equity & Compliance, and the Director of Human Resources, regarding campus safety and compliance issues. A professional counselor, as designated by HutchCC and whose official responsibilities include providing mental health counseling to members of the HutchCC community, may be exempt from reporting Clery Act crimes and/or allegations of Clery Act crimes when functioning within the scope of the counselor’s license or certification.
