About The Position

Men & Women’s Head Cross Country Coach and Assistant Coach for Track & Field This position will serve as the Head Coach of the men’s and women’s cross-country teams, and as an assistant coach for distance running events for indoor and outdoor track and field. This position will report to the Athletic Director. The major duties and responsibilities include: Providing quality learning experiences for students and maintaining the integrity of Ranger College. Recruiting for cross country and assisting the track and field head coach in recruiting the assigned number of athletes for the program. Meeting class punctually and keeping students throughout the scheduled time as appropriate to provide quality learning experiences. Maintaining field and/or gymnasium for his/her respective sport. Dressing in a professional manner when at the office or coaching games. Preparing and submitting personal vita for placement on-line. Assisting in maintaining records of attendance, student progress, and grade distributions of students enrolled in the coach’s classes and helping to make all required student reports to the registrar and administrators on the dates required. Maintaining required office hours to assist students. Post hours on the office door and submit hours to the Athletic Director and the Switchboard operator. Notifying the Athletic Director if practice is canceled or moved to another location. Maintaining discipline and order during instructional activities and reporting all student problems in need of attention to the Athletic Director. Counseling students when there is a need and opportunity, realizing that the coach is often in the best position for effective guidance. Creating and implementing year-round endurance training and racing programming Charting and monitoring the progress of Ranger College endurance athletes Developing and teaching cross-country and track endurance event race strategy. Fundraising, budget preparation, and compliance is mandatory. Attending graduation. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s in Kinesiology, Sports Administration, or related field required; Master’s preferred. OR Bachelor’s degree with sufficient experience, Master’s preferred.
• Experience: At least 2 years work-related experience Required
• Licensure, Certification, Registration or other Requirement: None
• Excellent oral/written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills required
• Able to work in a fast-paced, busy student-oriented setting
• Self-motivated and able to work independently and under pressure
• Able to initiate and complete tasks within demanding time limits
