About The Position

The Head Athletic Trainer will provide administration and supervision of the athletic training program for all athletic or athletic related programs (women's soccer, cross country, track & field, football, volleyball, basketball, baseball and softball) at Highland Community College.

Requirements

  • Master's degree required in Sports Medicine and/or athletic training area.
  • National Athletic Trainer's Association (NATA) Certification required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common journals, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, management, or members of the community.
  • Ability to write correspondence and other documents that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Employee must have the ability to work long hours, day and evening, as relates to program requirements.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with no major infractions over the past five years

Nice To Haves

  • Related experience and/or training desired.
  • Computer experience desired.

Responsibilities

  • Administration and supervision of the athletic training program to include the following: a. Supervision of student athletic trainers; b. Maintenance of training room and equipment.
  • Provide injury care and prevention for approximately 300 athletes in all sports and athletic related programs.
  • Be familiar with and follow the policies of Highland Community College, the NJCAA, and the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference.
  • Administering of substance abuse testing to athletes on a regular basis as defined in the Athletic Department's Substance Abuse Policy.
  • Work continually with the Athletic Director and coaches to observe, evaluate, and upgrade the total athletic program.
  • Head all recruiting activities for the AT Department.
