Works under the direction of the Sr. Accounting Manager of Housing and Community Development Division and is responsible for leading all accounting and financial reporting (internal and external) for the division. This role involves verifying, documenting, and accounting for expenses eligible for reimbursement under all programs and funding sources administered by the division. The Lead Accountant maintains data and generates various financial and Grantee reports to summarize monthly expenditures, and compiles information for the annual Grantee Performance Report to meet HUD regulations. The position also assists auditors with annual audits, prepares adjusting and closing entries, and provides guidance and assistance to assigned accounting staff, including planning assignments, monitoring progress, reviewing work, and delegating projects. Furthermore, the role includes reconciling and maintaining the accounting system and directing the reconciliation of fund drawdowns to the City general ledger.
