About The Position
The Lead Accountant manages day-to-day accounting operations for a senior living community. This hands-on role ensures accurate financial reporting, supports monthly and year-end closes, reconciles bank and resident accounts, and partners with leadership to maintain strong financial controls.
Requirements
- 5+ years accounting experience in industry or public accounting.
- Strong QuickBooks expertise.
- Proven experience with bank reconciliations.
- Solid understanding of general ledger accounting and financial statements.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Strong Excel skills.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in multi-facility or multi-entity accounting.
- Residential leasing or property management accounting experience.
- Profit center analysis experience.
- Senior living, healthcare, or real estate accounting experience.
- Prior responsibility for monthly close and internal reporting.
- Exposure to budgeting or financial analysis.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate accounting records using QuickBooks.
- Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Manage general ledger activity, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Support monthly and year-end close processes.
- Track and reconcile resident accounts, deposits, and leasing-related transactions.
- Coordinate with operations to ensure accurate revenue and expense coding.
- Assist with budgeting, variance analysis, and financial reviews.
- Support external accountants, auditors, and tax preparers.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting best practices.
- Assist with process improvements as the organization grows.
