About The Position

This exciting opportunity is within the Finance organization, offering a hybrid work setting. The role is for an Expert Accountant for Ag Retail, responsible for executing accounting duties for designated Ag Retail business units, specifically for the grain product line. This position also has the potential to lead a small team of accountants and reports directly to the Accounting Manager for Ag Retail.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Business, Business Administration, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in Finance and/or Accounting
  • Progressively advancing level of accounting responsibilities and leadership experience
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP)
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong organizational skills and analytical ability
  • Proven ability to build relationships and be successful in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in MS Office suite

Nice To Haves

  • Public accounting experience
  • Previous experience with Agris and SAP accounting software preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage staff of 1-2 direct reports with a focus on coaching and development.
  • Review staff work related to analyses, journal entries and account reconciliations including complex calculations related to inventory valuation and derivatives.
  • Lead the month-end close process for assigned areas in accordance with the company accounting calendar, and preparation of monthly close activities for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure accounting policies and procedures follow company policies and US GAAP and monitor evolving accounting guidance.
  • Prepare precise quarter end and year-end audit work papers in accordance with internal and external audit requirements.
  • Build, maintain, and manage a strong internal controls environment, including supporting policies, procedures, and protocol.
  • Identify and lead continuous improvement projects around processes, system enhancements, and reporting capabilities.
  • Serve as a business partner to leaders to provide decision support enabling the attainment of business objectives.
  • Champion and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed or assigned.
