Full-time Work Schedule, Monday- Friday, 40 hours per week Job Posting: Project Management Office Interns Position: Project Management Office Intern Location: Hybrid-Century Center Building B - 1000 Birch Ridge Dr, Raleigh NC 27610 Internship Duration: 10-week internship (May 26, 2026-July 31, 2026) Description: The North Carolina Department of Information Technology – Transportation (NCDIT-T) Project Management Office (PMO) is seeking two motivated and detail-oriented Project Management Interns to join our team for FY2026. This hybrid internship offers hands-on experience supporting enterprise-level initiatives focused on streamlining IT expenditure reporting and strengthening application portfolio management using the NCDIT Enterprise Portfolio Management platform (OrbusInfinity). Interns will work closely with the PMO Director, Portfolio Managers, and cross-functional IT and business partners on real-world projects that impact DOT enterprise applications statewide.

Requirements

  • Must be a currently enrolled full-time student in a bachelors, masters, or professional level program at an accredited or recently graduated from a North Carolina Historically Black College/University (HBCU) or Minority Serving Institution (MSI) by May 2026.
  • 24 credit hours completed.
  • Minimum overall GPA of 2.5 (on 4.0 scale)
  • Has legal right to work in the U.S. and do not need sponsorship

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Teams and SharePoint.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project, Power BI, or other project management tools is preferred but not required.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Interest in project management, business analysis, or IT portfolio management.
  • Technical aptitude or coursework is beneficial but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Support project managers and portfolio managers in a project coordinator role, assisting with project planning, scheduling, task tracking, and documentation.
  • Participate in a coordinated, cross-department effort to establish repeatable processes for application cost reporting, portfolio analysis, and application rationalization.
  • Assist with meeting facilitation, status tracking, and preparation of project artifacts, reports, and presentations for stakeholders.
  • Monitor project performance indicators and help track progress against schedules, resources, and deliverables.
  • Collaborate daily with PMO staff, IT teams, and business partners to ensure timely execution of assigned tasks.
  • Utilize tools such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Microsoft Project, Power BI, and OrbusInfinity (training provided as needed).
