About The Position

The Hall Director is an integral component to the success of the Residence Education area for University Housing. The Hall Director is responsible for creating a community where academics and community involvement are honored. This position facilitates an environment within the residence hall that contributes to the development of students and staff academically, socially, physically and culturally. Additionally, the Hall Director provides leadership for the day to day management of the hall or complex to create a safe, clean and comfortable environment for students and staff. The Hall Director articulates to students the philosophy and policies of University Housing, the Division of Student Affairs, and the University while representing and presenting the needs of the students to the administration. The Hall Director role is one of leadership, trust, and honor, and contributes significantly to the personal growth and development of their staff members and hall residents. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Requirements

  • The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree with a major in sociology, public administration, or related field from an accredited institution of higher education
  • At least two years of experience in program administration or related area
  • Knowledge of how to plan and organize events for students
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in college student personnel, higher education administration, counseling, or a directly related field of study
  • Graduate and/or full-time experience with community living and leadership development
  • At least three years of experience in program administration or related area
