Day-in-the-life on our CNC team Join our Greenwood, IN facility on the shift that fits you best — 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. As a Haas CNC Milling Machinist on our 3- and 4-axis vertical machining centers (with exposure to 5+ axis VMCs), you’ll turn drawings into precision parts for a wide range of applications. You’ll own your setup, keep quality tight, and collaborate with a close-knit crew that looks out for one another. How your shift flows Kick off with a review of blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and technical data to confirm tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings, and machining sequences. Stage and verify tools and fixtures; confirm milling and boring sizes, depths, angles, and other specs meet quality standards before first cut. Mount, align, and secure workholding and attachments; assemble cutting tools into holders and load toolholders into machine magazines. Load control media (tape, card, or disk) or retrieve programs from the database; set offsets to position the spindle relative to the workpiece and dial in speed, feed, depth of cut, and coolant. Perform setup prove-outs and, with supervisor approval, limited manual programming during setups. Run parts while monitoring displays and machine behavior; stop as needed to change tools, adjust sequence, or measure parts against the print. Correct out-of-tolerance conditions by entering commands or making manual control adjustments; switch to manual operation for non-automated moves or if automatic programming falters. Partner with your supervisor or programming team to resolve control media or program errors. Record data and maintain routings in the Traverse Manufacturing System. Wrap up by cleaning machines, tooling, and parts; perform routine maintenance and follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements. Support onboarding by helping train new teammates when needed.
