The City of Aurora is seeking a Guest Services Technician who embodies our "CORE 4" values of Integrity, Customer Service, Respect, and Professionalism. As a vital member of our team, you will help ensure our recreational spaces remain a top destination for the public. Please note that this position is for the closing shift, with hours from 12:30 pm to 9:00 pm. Because our facilities are most popular during community leisure times, weekends and holidays are a mandatory part of this schedule. This is classified as a Seasonal position where the selected candidates' length of employment will not exceed six (6) consecutive months and can work up to 40 hours a week. This position does not provide medical benefits. This position earns sick leave in accordance with the Healthy Families and Workplace Act The deadline to submit applications is Sunday, March 1, 2026. The selected applicant(s) will undergo the following conditions: Background Check (if over 18) Position overview: The City of Aurora is seeking a Guest Services Technician who can focus on administrative duties including revenue collection from various locations in the park, cash handling, reconciling reports, and closing duties for the park. Additional duties will include assisting the Boat Rental and Entry Station operations and providing support and assistance to City employees, citizens, and a variety of other customers. This role requires a high level of problem-solving ability, self-initiative, dependability, confidentiality, and the ability and willingness to occasionally work independently.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least one year of cash handling experience including customer service experience in a fast-paced environment, and using basic Microsoft Suite applications.
  • General knowledge of cash registers
  • Knowledge of personal computers and related word processing software applications.
  • Skill in the use of Windows-based, POS, Excel, and registration software programs.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Conflict resolution skills.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, all levels of management including executive staff, citizens, and elected officials.
  • Handle sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Creatively solve problems, negotiate and handle stressful situations in a positive manner.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
  • CPR/AED & First Aid preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Runs the appropriate revenue reports and provides revenue reconciliation for all outlets.
  • Prepares bank deposits.
  • Under general supervision, provides information to the public regarding facilities, activities, services and programs.
  • Performs customer service duties such as greeting guests and answering questions in person and over the phone.
  • Provides assistance to the Boat Rental and Entry Station operations which includes greeting customers, filling out rental contracts, launching watercrafts, handling payments, selling passes, and providing information.
  • Completes all required reports and records accurately and on schedule; submits reports and deposits to the proper person or office.
  • Serves as a cashier by operating the cash register, handling financial transactions, and processing receipts in person, over the phone, or with online customers.
  • Educating patrons on facility use rules and regulations; ensures adherence to rules and safety procedures
  • Responds to all emergency situations as needed.
  • Assists in the execution of emergency action plans as directed by Management.
  • Follows established Cash Handling Policies and Procedures.
  • Inputs pass records data.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
