About The Position

Mercury Ignite. Kick-start your career with Mercury Ignite: Graduate Program in Growth Data Science and Data Governance a 12-month structured journey that offers hands-on experience across real business projects and rotations within the Enterprise Data Science organization at Mercury Insurance. We are one team. The Enterprise Data Science team (EDS) is a technology team focused accelerating Mercury’s data-driven transformation to support growth, operational excellence, and AI-enabled business processes. We are seeking curious, passionate, and hard-working graduates from data science, computer science, data analytics, business analytics, statistics and machine learning academic fields to participate in our remote graduate program. In this program, you will have two, six-month rotations focused on the below two functions: Growth Data Science – Focuses on building growth data science expertise, driving experimentation, customer insights, and data driven growth strategies through impactful analytics and AI solutions. Data Governance – Focuses on building expertise in modern data governance by improving data quality monitoring, metadata documentation and enrichment in the Data Catalog, supporting Master Data Management (MDM), and supporting data classification to ensure responsible data access and privacy compliance, while enabling trusted, secure, and scalable data-driven decision making.

Requirements

  • Be legally eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Recently completed a bachelor's or both bachelor's and master's degree in an information technology (computer science, Electrical engineering, Mathematics and Data science) field
  • Able to provide a cumulative GPA, as reported by your school. Minimum 3.0 GPA required, 3.5 or higher GPA preferred.
  • Graduation date on or after November 2025 but no later than June 2026
  • Planning to seek full-time employment by June 2026
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to independently learn and make an impact within a team environment
  • Strong programming skills in at least one of the following: Java, JavaScript, Python
  • Good understanding of different data structures and algorithms
  • Required job duties are essentially sedentary in nature, consisting of occasional walking, standing, lifting, and/or carrying ten pounds maximum.

Responsibilities

  • Apply statistical analysis and experimentation to driver customer growth, optimization and data information business decisions
  • Develop, clean and analyze datasets using tools like SQL, Python or R to generate actionable insights
  • Partner with cross functional teams to translate business problems into data driven solutions and measurable outcomes
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency through data validation, quality monitoring, documentation, and adherence to data governance standards.
  • Support data governance initiatives including master data management, metadata documentation and enrichment in the Data Catalog, and data classification to enable responsible data access, privacy compliance, and trusted data assets.
  • Leverage AI and machine learning techniques to enhance predictive insights, automate processes, and responsibly scale data driven decision making
