Job Summary: · Will provide leadership to their assembly group through clearly established two-way communication regarding goals and actions by use of Floor Management Systems, ensuring alignment of assembly activities to support business plan priorities, leading production improvement strategies, technology advances and providing leadership to team leaders and team members, fostering their development and the development of the assembly team members.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of Products
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 12 months’ leadership experience in manufacturing (Assembly experience preferred)
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage in a fast-paced environment with a positive attitude

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years’ Group-leader or higher experience in automotive manufacturing (Assembly experience preferred)
  • Understanding of the assembly processes and equipment
  • Experience leading and facilitating improvement activities through problem solving and kaizen

Responsibilities

  • Establish strong team member relations, at all levels and provide support for people development, coaching, and mentoring with a focus on teamwork and inclusion
  • Work closely with advisors from Mazda and Toyota
  • Create production improvement strategies relative to KPI achievement and support team members through team leaders in translating those strategies into concrete action plans by use of Floor Management Systems
  • Develop departmental strategies, leadership functions, training coordination for the assembly production team
  • Lead and coach production team to achieve hourly/daily objectives
  • Ensure alignment of assembly activities to support the business plan
  • Share information and communicate targets, goals, and results
  • Support takt change planning, line rebalancing, trials, and training activities
  • Support new model activities
  • Create team leader development plans and coach the team members
  • Support introduction of new assembly technologies when applicable.
  • Develop and support standardized work instruction for each assigned assembly production process
  • Support shop safety initiatives and manage timely implementation of countermeasures to resolve problems
  • Ensure daily process quality and coordinate activities with the team to improve assembly quality
  • Promote problem solving activities within the team
  • Identify waste in assembly processes and implement activities to improve efficiency
  • Cultivate a workforce that is representative of Diversity and Inclusion initiative
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the department
  • Be available to work outside of normal work schedule, including but not limited to weekends, holidays, shutdowns, and travel as needed (domestically and internationally)
  • Individual will participate in customer audits and visits as requested.
  • Individual will interface with assembly equipment suppliers and on-site partners.
