About The Position

The Grounds Supervisor 2 at Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) oversees the planning, coordination, and supervision of campus grounds maintenance and landscape stewardship across college facilities. This position supervises grounds maintenance personnel and manages the operational delivery of the college’s Grounds Program, ensuring campus landscapes are maintained in a safe, sustainable, aesthetically pleasing, and environmentally responsible manner. The Grounds Supervisor 2 plans and schedules seasonal grounds activities; supervises turf, irrigation, horticultural, and landscape operations; manages snow removal and campus pathway safety; and supports campus events and outdoor facility operations. The position also advances TMCC’s sustainability initiatives through environmentally responsible landscape practices, water conservation strategies, integrated pest management, and sustainable grounds management. The position is responsible for cultivated acreage that includes complex irrigation systems, diverse plantings, campus turf areas, and landscape construction projects. The position also supports budget planning, vendor coordination, staff development, and operational planning for the Grounds Program.

Requirements

  • graduation from high school or equivalent education
  • two (2) years of experience supervising a small work unit engaged in general grounds and turf maintenance; OR One (1) year of experience as a Grounds Supervisor I in Nevada State service; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above
  • Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
  • A valid Class “C” Nevada driver’s license or higher operator’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
  • This position requires a State of Nevada Department of Agriculture pesticide license.
