About The Position

Responsible for the grounds operations on assigned shift, ensure that all equipment is operating effectively, and assist the department manager with personnel issues.

Requirements

  • Supervisory experience
  • Valid Minnesota driver’s license and be insurable
  • Heavy equipment operator license beneficial
  • Knowledge of operating equipment and the maintenance and upkeep of all equipment
  • Knowledge of hazardous chemicals and how to properly handle and mix them.
  • Knowledge of sweeper, sprinkler system watering, pruning and trimming, mowing, weed eradication and prevention, care of flowering plants, trees, baler and recycling
  • Ability to operate lawn machinery and small hand tools.
  • Landscaping experience
  • Knowledge of riding lawn mower and snow plows
  • Knowledge of how to change the oil in snowplows, riding lawn mowers, weed trimmers and edger
  • Ability to resolve conflicts efficiently and professionally
  • Must be flexible in working various hours, shifts, weekends and holidays
  • Prolonged standing and walking is required.
  • Must be able to life and carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Subject to internal working conditions, including a smoking environment.
  • Subject to external working conditions including extreme weather conditions.
  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
  • One or more years related experience
  • Must meet Tribal/State compact licensing requirements, pass criminal background check and submit to drug testing.

Responsibilities

  • Has the ability to perform all functions of supervised positions.
  • Oversees ground staff to ensure work assignments are being carried out.
  • Maintains landscape of the grounds surrounding the entire casino hotel and event center.
  • With the Grounds Manager, determines the staffing requirements, schedules, work assignments and staff training needs
  • Maintains cleanliness of all work areas and storage through delegation of duties.
  • Ensures all equipment is in good working condition.
  • Responsible for general maintenance and repairs of equipment
  • Responsible for documenting employee work performance.
  • Responsible for the correct application of all Human Resource policies and required to act in professional manner, encouraging other employees to do likewise.
  • Provides proper safety training of company assets including personnel.
  • Keeps personnel informed of Marketing promotions and events, changes to policies and procedures
  • Assists Grounds Manager maintaining weekly timekeeping records to submit to payroll, employment activity records and other departmental reports.
  • Responds to and handles guest requests and concerns in a timely, professional manner.
  • Contributes to the general management of the company by attending scheduled meetings
  • Keeps Grounds Manager promptly and fully informed of all situations and problems or matters of significance so timely, corrective action can be taken.
  • Maintains knowledge of all events in the property as a whole.
  • Attends and/or facilitates all mandatory meetings and training.
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times.
  • Is sensitive to Native American Culture.
  • Operates within the parameters of the Leech Lake Gaming Human Resource Policy, Departmental Policy Manual and all Tribal Internal Controls (TICs), and all other applicable regulations.
  • Secures the assets of Leech Lake Gaming and the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
