About The Position

The Opportunity: Under general supervision, you will perform a wide range of skilled gardening and landscape‑maintenance duties to keep Washington State University’s Pullman campus grounds safe, clean, and visually appealing. You’ll use your horticultural knowledge and hands‑on abilities to care for plants, maintain outdoor spaces, and support the overall health and appearance of the university’s landscape. Additional Information: This is a full time (100 % FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible. Monthly Salary: $3,262 to $4,320 | Range 36 (Steps A-M) | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28 . In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 , the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Requirements

  • Ability to do required work, and one (1) year of experience or training involving grounds maintenance, gardening, plant care, cultivation and landscape installation.
  • One (1) year experience plus knowledge of grounds maintenance procedures and techniques, plant material identification and cultural needs, and current horticultural practices.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain within six (6) months of hire, a current Public Pesticide Applicators license.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule when necessary.
  • Ability to demonstrate and use a variety of hand and motorized tools such as; pruners, loppers, shovels, rakes, hoes, mowers, blowers, edgers, litter picker, chain saw, trimmers, string trimmers, and sprayers.
