About The Position

The Oregon Military Department is a state agency that supports the Oregon National Guard. Membership in the Oregon National Guard is not required for this position. This is a permanent full-time state position located at Camp Rilea in Warrenton, Oregon, and is represented by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees’ (AFSCME) union. This recruitment will establish a list of qualified candidates for the current vacancy and potential future openings. Requirements

  • An associated degree in landscape technology, horticulture, turf management or a closely related field AND eighteen (18) months of landscape experience AND the ability to obtain a Public Pesticide Applicator license within six (6) months of hire.
  • OR three (3) years of landscape experience AND the ability to obtain a Public Pesticide Applicator license within six (6) months of hire.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Must have and maintain a favorable Criminal background History check and be able to obtain and maintain a favorable Department of Defense National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) Suitability Determination (T1).
  • Possess or obtain within six (6) months of employment and maintain Public Pesticide Applicator license.
  • Employee is required to maintain a drug/alcohol free workplace in accordance with OMD Drug/Alcohol CPM’s, Policies, and the Statewide Drug Free Workplace Policy 50-000-01.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S without a visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect grounds to determine needs and design planting or landscaping projects.
  • Maintain a clean, attractive, well-landscaped appearance and safe environment for the grounds around state-owned and leased facilities and properties.
  • Independently design and plan landscape projects in coordination with supervision.
  • Assign duties requiring a Public Pesticide Applicator license.
