Job Summary Under immediate supervision and direction of the Sign Shop Supervisor or designee, this position assists in creating graphic design, layout and for the purpose of signage on campus. Beach Building Services (BBS) at California State University Long Beach is dedicated to supporting the university by ensuring the safe operation, maintenance, and development of the campus. As a large, thriving department, BBS provides facilities based comprehensive support to the campus in the areas of academics, activities and event services. These facilities contribute to a well-rounded and enriching campus experience for students, faculty and staff. Requirements

The ideal candidate is a highly organized, adaptable, and customer‑focused professional with strong computer skills, including working knowledge of spreadsheet and word‑processing programs and the ability to quickly learn and use in‑house maintenance management and campus event management systems.
They possess excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with all levels of administration, faculty, staff, contractors, and the general public.
With proven experience in customer‑service‑oriented environments, they excel in high‑pressure and high‑profile situations, maintaining professionalism while multitasking and prioritizing multiple projects.
This individual brings strong interpersonal abilities, creativity, and the capacity to relate well to individuals from diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and skill levels.
They are comfortable using paging systems such as radios and walkie‑talkies, as well as multi‑line phone systems, and consistently deliver exceptional customer service through clear, respectful, and effective communication.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.
Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.
Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field and six months of related professional or technical experience required.

Proficient in various graphic design software programs including Adobe Suite package preferred.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the shop supervisor, operate a variety of graphic publishing software programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator to develop signage designs and delineate campus environments for proposed signage with the use of photography, illustrations and mockups.
Assists Shop Supervisor on job walks with customers.
Under the direction of the shop supervisor, prepare layouts and produce materials using standard skills and knowledge related to the design, creation and display of visual print, multimedia and electronic materials.
