About The Position

The Graphic Designer develops compelling visual concepts, using both traditional and digital tools, to effectively communicate ideas that inspire, inform, and engage target audiences. This role is responsible for creating production-ready designs and layouts for advertisements, brochures, magazines, corporate reports, and other marketing materials supporting all branded, private label, and Calumet Specialty products. Working in close partnership with marketing managers and marketing analysts across each Calumet product segment, the Graphic Designer produces graphics for product illustrations, logos, packaging, websites, and other digital and print assets. By transforming complex information into clear and visually appealing graphics, diagrams, and data visualizations, this role combines creativity with technical expertise to enhance brand communication and support strategic marketing initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with preference towards majors in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in creative graphics design
  • Demonstrated experience with layouts, creative services, and desktop publishing tools
  • Demonstrated experience in understanding of the latest trends and their role within a commercial environment
  • Excellent IT skills, especially with design and photo-editing software (Adobe product suite)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in the Automotive or Petroleum Industry (i.e. mechanic repair) and/or lubricant experience (i.e. knowledge of lubricants and proper applications)

Responsibilities

  • Illustrates concept by designing rough layout of art and copy regarding arrangement, size, type size and style, and related aesthetic concepts.
  • Determine the message the design should portray.
  • Create images that identify a product or convey a message.
  • Develop graphics for product illustrations, logos, and websites.
  • Obtains approval of concept by submitting rough layout for approval.
  • Completes projects by coordinating with outside agencies, art services, printers, etc.
  • Collaborate with printers to select type of paper and ink.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending design workshops; reviewing professional publications; participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Meet with internal clients to establish a vision for a product or design.
  • Additional duties as assigned
