About The Position

Organization's Summary Statement: The Roshan Institute for Persian Studies advances the study and public understanding of Persian language, history, and culture through research, teaching, and public programming. Housed within the College of Arts & Humanities, the Institute supports faculty research, academic initiatives, and community-facing events that promote interdisciplinary scholarship and global engagement. The Grants and Operations Manager oversees the administrative, financial, and operational functions of the department, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations and compliance with university and sponsor requirements. This position manages pre-award and post-award grant and contract activity, financial and procurement processes, payroll and human resources coordination, and departmental programming and events. The role serves as a key liaison between the department, college, and central administrative offices, supporting strategic initiatives through clear communication, collaboration, and effective project management. Examples of key responsibilities include: Management of pre-award and post-award grant and contract administration, including budget development, proposal routing, financial tracking, and reporting Oversee departmental financial operations, including procurement, P-card reconciliation, travel reimbursements, honoraria, and general purchasing Support the planning and execution of public events, lectures, and conferences, including logistics, contracts, speaker payments, and scheduling Communicate deadlines, track deliverables, and ensure timely submissions across administrative and programmatic activities Perform additional duties as assigned in support of departmental goals

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Three (3) years of professional grant, finance, or accounting experience.
  • One (1) year of experience leading or supervising professional staff.
  • Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
  • Knowledge of grants related policies and procedures, and federal, state, and other applicable related laws, rules, regulations, and ordinances.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing pre-award and post-award grant and contract activities, including proposal routing, budget development, financial tracking, and sponsor reporting
  • Experience overseeing financial and procurement operations, including purchasing, reimbursements, account monitoring, and budget forecasting
  • Familiarity with payroll and human resources processes in an academic or research environment
  • Experience supporting the planning and execution of academic or public-facing events, including contracts, logistics, and speaker payments
