About The Position

The Grants Manager leads and executes PUC’s private institutional fundraising strategy, ensuring the successful cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of foundation and corporate grant funding. This role is responsible for managing the full grant lifecycle, from prospect research and strategy development to proposal writing, submission, reporting, and compliance. The Grants Manager reports to the Chief Advancement Officer and is responsible for working cross-functionally with Program Directors, Finance, and senior leadership to ensure alignment between funding strategies, program implementation, and financial stewardship. The Grants Manager is also responsible for writing and submitting all grants going to private granting entities; reporting, working across the organization to ensure grant guidelines are met. Th Grants Manager plays a critical role in achieving annual contributed revenue goals and strengthening funder relationships that advance PUC’s mission and long-term sustainability. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of local, state and national funding entities, have strong funding research and writing skills, and will possess strengths in connection building and understanding relational dynamics.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Chief Advancement Officer to develop and implement annual grant strategies.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of Minnesota and national foundation landscapes, trends, and funding priorities.
  • Provide training as needed for program staff on grants best practices.
  • Serve as an internal thought partner on funder positioning, case development, and narrative strategy.
  • Maintains relevant understanding of funding communities and shares information, changes and updates with appropriate staff and leadership.
  • Lead the writing, editing, and submission of all proposals to private and nongovernmental funding entities.
  • Own and manage a comprehensive grants calendar to ensure 100% on-time submission and reporting compliance.
  • Meet financial goals within the budget year.
  • Develop seamless processes for grant production, submission and reporting.
  • Research and qualify new grant opportunities.
  • Track and document all grant activity in the Advancement database to ensure accurate reporting and forecasting.
  • Maintain strong relationships with funders and provide support as needed for strengthening PUC’s leadership relationships with funders.
  • Attend events as requested.
  • Maintain and support regular communication with foundation staff and leadership.
  • Implement annual stewardship plan for Foundations.
  • Stay aware of issues, challenges and triumphs impacting PUC communities.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Participate in department and agency-wide meetings as required.
  • Work with the Chief Advancement Officer in developing annual revenue budgets and expense budgets annually.
  • Manage program expenses.
  • Work closely with Finance to track pledges, manage aging reports, and ensure accurate revenue recognition.
  • Work with Finance to ensure all restricted funds are monitored for compliance and proper allocation.
  • Participate in weekly reconciliation with Finance.
  • Provide data and information for forecasting and other financial management as requested by the Vice President of Advancement.
