About The Position

Position Summary: The Grant Coordinator promotes the mission and models the values of Ain Dah Yung Center to provides a healing place within the community for American Indian youth and families to thrive in safety and wholeness. This position is responsible for identifying funding opportunities for a nonprofit, 501(c)3 organization and writing and submitting proposals to grantor organizations. Their duties include researching deadlines, drafting grant requests, submitting reports for approval, and following through with all reporting requirements after funds are awarded. The role also includes development of business relationships with the potential to create corporate funding, in-kind gifts, and volunteer opportunities within the Twin Cities area.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, communication, creative writing, or related area and/or equivalent experience, minimum of two years
  • Must be able to work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office 365, Teams, Zoom, and basic grant / donor management database
  • Valid MN driver’s license with insurance and maintain a good driving record
  • Must pass a DHS background check
  • This job operates mainly in a professional office environment
  • Some local travel is expected for this position
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to speak and hear sufficiently to communicate effectively by phone or in person, and must be able to read correspondence, computer screens, and forms
  • Some evening and weekend hours
  • Standing, walking, stooping, bending, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate computer, phones, and writing utensils
  • Ability to interact with a diverse group of people in a manner which shows sensitivity, respect, and professionalism.
  • Experience and skills in making and delivering presentations.
  • Demonstrates the ability to manage ambiguous/stressful situations.
  • Aptitude to manage multiple tasks including identifying priorities, adjusting scope as necessary, and adhering to strict timelines.
  • Must be able to work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Research and understand the history, objectives, programs, and financial needs of the organization serving Native communities including homeless services, Safe Harbor programing, mental health, & youth supportive services
  • Researching grant opportunities and deadlines
  • Writing and editing grant proposals that follow guidelines and display grammar and spelling
  • Coordinating with project leaders and stakeholders to collect data, figures, and requirements
  • Submitting and monitoring grant applications and reports
  • Coordinating requests for in-kind donations to ADYC
  • Working with the leadership team to understand the financial needs and goals of the organization
  • Ensure all communications are free from proofreading errors before posting or distributing
