About The Position

The University of Arizona's College of Science's Post Award Team invites you to apply for the role of Grant and Contract Administrator I, who will provide post-award support for the Department of Astronomy and Steward Observatory research faculty. This position will serve as a delegate on grant accounts, approve transactions, reconcile accounts, and work closely with Principal Investigators and Sponsored Projects Services to manage awards. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
  • 1 year of relevant work experience.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with different groups/individuals.
  • Working knowledge and skills with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with University systems such as UAccess Financials, Research, Employee, and Analytics.
  • Experience working with sponsored grants and contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews incoming awards and award modifications, including related documents and proposals, and supports proper set up in accordance with departmental procedures. Communicates new award details to Principal Investigators and their staff, providing clarification as needed.
  • Assists with monitoring balances and expenditures and supports the closeout of assigned grants and contracts. Prepares and documents various expense transfers and position distribution updates in coordination with other teams in the Business Office.
  • Assists assigned Principal Investigators on a regular basis by preparing monthly financial reports and/or ad hoc projections as necessary to support their research projects.
  • Prepare and/or approve financial transactions for assigned sponsored project accounts, including PCard approvals, purchase requisitions, disbursement vouchers, interdepartmental billing forms, expense reimbursements, salary expense transfers as necessary to ensure that the appropriate accounts and object codes are used.
  • Acts as a resource for interpretation of University and Sponsor guidelines. Answers incoming post award questions and researches as needed.
