About The Position

Ottawa University (established in 1865), one of the oldest private liberal arts universities in the United States, is a multi-campus system serving approximately 4000 students through its campuses in Kansas (Ottawa, Kansas- Residential Campus and Overland Park, Kansas- Adult Programs); Arizona (Surprise Residential Campus and OUAZ Adult Programs); Wisconsin (Brookfield Adult Programs); and our OU ONLINE PROGRAM based out of Overland Park, Kansas. JOB SUMMARY Responsible for providing support to the administration of a Surprise Residential Campus Club Program under the leadership of the Head Coach.

Requirements

  • An individual must first be accepted and enrolled in an Ottawa University graduate program to be eligible for appointment as a Graduate Assistant.

  • Submission of official undergraduate transcripts (3.0 GPA – minimum requirement) earned bachelor’s degree.
  • Submission of a personal statement regarding career goals and three professional references.
  • Other items as identified by the specific academic program

Responsibilities

  • Effectively carry out coaching and recruiting process of prospective students who will also participate as a member of the Club Program.
  • Assist them with required information for admission to the school.
  • Provide continuing conversations and contacts to prospective student/club participant.
  • Guide them through the enrollment process.
  • Maintain priority of recruiting students who are a “good fit” with the University as well as to the Club Program.
  • Meet enrollment targets including the retention of students who are part of the Club Program
  • Work as a member of a recruitment team through support of the processes and goals of the admissions, financial aid, business and registrar’s offices.
  • Streamline enrollment processes to provide an efficient and smooth transition for the prospective student.
  • Provide for strong public relations both internally as well as to external constituencies.
  • Provide support to the Club Program as well as to the individual needs of members.
  • Work toward team unity as well as the general unity of the Surprise Residential Campus.
  • Initiate and follow a program and schedule that is consistent, reasonable, and effective for the student and the team.
  • Provide regular support and direction to students.
  • Exercise strong expense management within allotted program budget and approved funding levels.
  • Provide a strong academic emphasis and support of academics through leadership and activities of the program.
  • Be mindful of the contribution each student/program participant makes to the Surprise community including academic performance and participation in and contribution to non-program activities.
  • Understand the University’s policies and procedures and exercise judgment accordingly.
  • Assure that University and student information is handled in a confidential and ethical manner in alignment with the University’s Code of Conduct.
  • Provide leadership to those with whom you work through your conduct, attitude, and professionalism.
  • Represent the University to students, external groups, faculty and staff in a way that reflects well on the University.
  • Support, embrace, and mentor the Christian principles of the University as well as be committed to the educational mission of the University.

  • The selected candidates will be granted tuition waiver (18 credit hours per year) for one of Ottawa University's graduate programs, a partial meal allowance and a bi-weekly living stipend paid over 12 months.
