About The Position

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in Tallahassee, FL in the Office of Programs and Re-Entry and Transition Services. The mission of the Office of Programs and Re-Entry and Transition Services in the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to provide comprehensive programs and services that support the rehabilitation and successful reintegration of inmates into society. This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid driver’s.
  • Two (2) years of FDC institutional experience within the last ten (10) years as a Classification Officer or above. OR postsecondary education may substitute for up to 4 years of the required experience to go along with four years of professional experience in corrections conducting staff training or providing coaching, mentoring and technical support to staff regarding correctional systems or operations. Experience must be clearly indicated on the State of Florida application.
  • Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.

Responsibilities

  • Regional Liaison: Act as a regional liaison for specialized programs and Bureau/OPR initiatives at assigned facilities.
  • Quarterly Site Visits: Conduct quarterly site visits to review operations and ensure fidelity monitoring for specialized programs.
  • Policy Review: Stay updated on administrative policies, procedures, guidelines, and directives related to specialized programs.
  • Issue Resolution: Identify and communicate operational issues and barriers, providing recommended resolutions to Bureau leadership.
  • Research and Best Practices: Conduct research on inmate programming and best practices in corrections.
  • Training and Guidance: Provide training and guidance to facility administration and staff on delivering specialized programs.
  • Meeting Participation: Attend and participate in facility, regional, and state meetings on behalf of the Bureau.
  • Data Reporting: Compile data, prepare reports on site visits, successes, barriers, and staff feedback, and provide recommendations for issue resolution.
