About The Position

The Data Specialist supports the Government Investigations and Takata Outreach teams by managing, analyzing, and validating complex safety, regulatory, and outreach data used in government investigations, regulatory reporting, and recall execution activities. This role ensures data accuracy, traceability, and usability to support timely, high‑quality responses to regulators and to maximize recall completion outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related technical or quantitative discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with data in a safety, regulatory, investigations, compliance, or operational analytics environment
  • Experience working with large, complex datasets from multiple sources, including field data, warranty data, service data, customer feedback, or outreach metrics
  • Strong understanding of data validation, traceability, documentation, and quality control practices supporting regulatory or audit needs
  • Ability to analyze data to identify trends, patterns, gaps, and inconsistencies and clearly summarize findings
  • Working knowledge of reporting, data analysis, and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, databases, dashboards); ability to learn internal systems quickly
  • Experience supporting investigations, reporting, or program execution through timely and accurate data preparation
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet time‑sensitive deadlines
  • Ability to understand and break down complex data or issues into clear, actionable information
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to support internal stakeholders, including investigators, program managers, and leadership
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while collaborating effectively within cross‑functional teams

Responsibilities

  • Collect, clean, validate, and organize data supporting U.S. and international government safety investigations, informal inquiries, and Takata outreach efforts.
  • Support responses to NHTSA and other regulators by preparing data extracts, summaries, trend analyses, and supporting documentation under direction of investigation leads.
  • Manage investigation‑ and Takata‑related data within internal systems (e.g., DAPIS and reporting tools), ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
  • Maintain data traceability and documentation to support regulatory reviews, audits, and internal record‑keeping requirements.
  • Develop routine and ad‑hoc reports and metrics related to investigation status, regulatory timelines, and Takata recall completion performance.
  • Analyze outreach, owner, and repair data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities to support improved Takata recall participation.
  • Coordinate with Government Investigations, Takata Program Management, and ICT to resolve data quality issues and ensure alignment across data sources.
  • Support regulatory reporting activities through data preparation, verification, and review.
  • Follow established data governance, privacy, and compliance requirements.
  • Identify incremental opportunities to improve data accuracy, consistency, and reporting efficiency.
