About The Position

This position is responsible for directly assisting the budget manager of the Office of Medical Marijuana Use (OMMU) with the budgeting activities for the office. This position requires working knowledge and understanding of legislative budget procedures and departmental accounting procedures to include types of transactions, transaction requirements and use, content and arrangement of reports, used in the Department of Financial Services, FLAIR ledger, and departmental budget systems. Assist supervisor in the preparation of detailed analyses and summary reports of budget status, trends, and needs for the OMMU based on established and accepted practices, theories, techniques, and methodologies. Perform accounting activities including the tracking of OMMU expenses and revenue. Assist with developing the OMMU operating budget and spending plan. Monitors monthly transactions for OMMU to ensure program costs are aligned with available budget and correct fiscal codes are used. Submit all spending plan transaction corrective entries by the second month or a corrective action plan is in place. Assist supervisor in the preparation of budget actions, expenditure reports, financial audits, and financial projections. Conducts analysis of ongoing spending patterns and identifies potential areas of concern. Analyze costs in relation to OMMU services performed during previous fiscal years to prepare comparative analyses. Assist with completing quarterly cash analysis, as needed. Assists supervisor in the identification of resource requirements for inclusion in the division Legislative Budget Request (LBR) submission. Assist supervisor in providing projected budget needs for LBR issues Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Proficient computer skills to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • three years’ experience with the State of Florida financial processes, budget, FLAIR, the Legislative Budget Request (LBR) process and AOD(MFMP) systems.
  • Must have a valid Florida State Driver's License, satisfactorily complete a background investigation, fingerprinting, and participation in direct deposit are requirements for employment.

Nice To Haves

  • bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field of study; and / Or
  • minimum of three years directly related professional experience in state budgeting, procurement, accounting, finance, and/or business or five years of directly related professional experience with State of Florida budgeting, procurement, accounting, finance, and/or business.
