About The Position

Role Overview: This position supports leadership by providing data-driven insights that improve efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability across state and local government. The position focuses on analyzing programs, operations, and expenditures to identify opportunities for performance improvement, cost savings, and enhanced service delivery for taxpayers.  Also directly contributes to improving how government works—helping deliver better services, reduce waste, and ensure public resources are used effectively and transparently.

Requirements

  • Experience in research, analytics, program evaluation, or performance management is required.
  • Ability to multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to analyze policies
  • Ability to analyze financial data and other sets of complex data

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, public administration, economics, statistics, data science, or a related field. Four (4) years of experience in a related area can substitute for the preferred bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct qualitative and quantitative research on government programs, processes, and service delivery models
  • Evaluate policy and operational initiatives to assess effectiveness, cost-efficiency, and impact
  • Benchmark performance against peer states and national best practices
  • Collect, and analyze administrative, financial, and operational data
  • Develop performance metrics, dashboards, and analytical models to track efficiency and outcomes
  • Identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for process improvement
  • Support performance management initiatives, including agency scorecards and outcome tracking
  • Provide analytical support for budget development, fiscal notes, and resource allocation decisions
  • Assess cost-effectiveness and return on investment for government programs and initiatives
  • Support evidence-based recommendations during decision making
  • Work closely with policy teams, operations staff, and IT/data teams
  • Support cross-departmental initiatives aimed at improving productivity, service quality, and value for money
