About The Position

The Pro Shop Assistant Manager assist the Golf Course Pro Shop Manager in the management of golf operations, including the pro shop, golf, cart rentals, and the driving range. Work involves independent decisions requiring technical knowledge, sound judgment and familiarity with City policies and golf industry standards. The Golf Course Pro Shop Assistant Manager is responsible for all golf shop activities in the Pro Shop Managers absence. This classification makes recommendations regarding shop operations and is responsible for supervising part-time staff, preparing reports, merchandising, tournaments, lessons, tee time scheduling, and collecting fees. This classification seeks feedback from part-time staff and guests, and partners with the Golf Course Pro Shop Manager to evaluate and recommend improvements for employee and guest experience. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assists in pro shop operations, driving range operation and maintenance and golf cart maintenance; Complete daily report of transactions and prepares deposits; Supervise part-time staff and assist with scheduling; Orders stock and organizes pro shop merchandise; Assists in arranging and providing golf tournaments; Utilize tee sheet management and reservation system; Operates a cash register and collects fees; Assist with food and beverage operations; Monitors the clubhouse inventory; Implement and monitor pace of play standards; Greets the public, schedules tee times, and answers questions regarding the use of golf facilities; Assists customers with sales of clubhouse merchandise; Cleans equipment and maintains clubhouse areas; Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality customer service; Performs essential and marginal functions as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of: Principles and practices of leadership and supervision.

  • Golf rules, equipment, and tournament management.
  • Cash handling procedures and internal control.

  • Communicate with the public, employees, and vendors in a polite and professional manner.
  • Produce organized documents utilizing Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Collaborate with others to accomplish desired results.
  • Provide a safe and clean work environment.
  • Ability to obtain a ServSafe certification.
  • This position requires the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. The individual must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the City does not authorize the employee to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

Nice To Haves

  • Member of an accredited golf professional management program and two years golf pro shop experience is preferred.
  • Other combinations of experience and education, which meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
