The Head Coach is responsible to the Director of Athletics for all activities of the intercollegiate sports program in a specific area. This role involves supervising assistant coaches and team support staff, assisting with performance evaluations, and coordinating their work. The coach is also responsible for assisting with the upkeep of athletic facilities, preparing bids for equipment and supplies, and actively recruiting student-athletes. Key duties include preparing for practice, game organization, and strategy, as well as monitoring student-athletes' class attendance, grade performance, and campus reports. The Head Coach must submit student information for official absences, collect student-athlete information for insurance purposes, and ensure compliance with NJCAA, MACCC, and other athletic rules and regulations. Additional responsibilities include scouting opponents, promoting the total athletic program, fostering harmonious relations with faculty, staff, patrons, and students, and providing information to the public relations department. The role also encompasses inventory management, scheduling, travel arrangements, ensuring athletes prepare daily assignments and attend classes, and supervising athletes in dormitories, cafeterias, and on campus. Furthermore, the Head Coach recommends the physical and budgetary needs of the athletic program through the college's planning process and performs other assigned duties.
