About The Position

Jeff Wyler Cadillac of Fairfield is "Now Hiring" a GM Technician! A General Motors Automotive Technician is a skilled professional certified by General Motors to diagnose, repair, and maintain GM vehicles. This role requires strong technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to quality workmanship, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Solid understanding of GM vehicle systems
  • Proficiency with computerized diagnostic equipment
  • Attention to detail and effective time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Good communication skills for explaining repairs and recommendations
  • Automotive and engine repair experience or auto mechanic training preferred.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance and provide friendly customer service.
  • Must read, interpret, and transcribe data to maintain accurate records.
  • Perform routine maintenance and other tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • May lift objects that weigh as much as 50 lbs.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience as a lube technician or prepared to do on-the-job training.
  • Understanding of automotive air-conditioning systems.
  • Ability to use diagnostic equipment.
  • Experience with heavy equipment and as a diesel mechanic, diesel engine knowledge, or prepared to do on-the-job training.
  • Good hand-eye coordination.
  • Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • ASE certifications are preferred
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic vehicle issues
  • Perform repairs on engines, transmissions, drivetrains, braking systems, suspension, HVAC, and steering systems
  • Use GM-approved diagnostic tools and software
  • Complete warranty and non-warranty repairs according to GM standards
  • Perform vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance
  • Assist and support junior technicians when needed
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation
  • Follow safety procedures and dealership policies
  • Stay current with GM training, service bulletins, and new vehicle technologies (including EV and hybrid systems)
