About The Position

Jeff Wyler Cadillac of Fairfield is "Now Hiring" a GM Technician! A General Motors Automotive Technician is a skilled professional certified by General Motors to diagnose, repair, and maintain GM vehicles. This role requires strong technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to quality workmanship, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
Solid understanding of GM vehicle systems
Proficiency with computerized diagnostic equipment
Attention to detail and effective time-management skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Good communication skills for explaining repairs and recommendations
Automotive and engine repair experience or auto mechanic training preferred.
Hold a valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
Ability to maintain a professional appearance and provide friendly customer service.
Must read, interpret, and transcribe data to maintain accurate records.
Perform routine maintenance and other tasks in a fast-paced environment.
May lift objects that weigh as much as 50 lbs.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience as a lube technician or prepared to do on-the-job training.
Understanding of automotive air-conditioning systems.
Ability to use diagnostic equipment.
Experience with heavy equipment and as a diesel mechanic, diesel engine knowledge, or prepared to do on-the-job training.
Good hand-eye coordination.
Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

ASE certifications are preferred
Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications

Responsibilities

Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic vehicle issues
Perform repairs on engines, transmissions, drivetrains, braking systems, suspension, HVAC, and steering systems
Use GM-approved diagnostic tools and software
Complete warranty and non-warranty repairs according to GM standards
Perform vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance
Assist and support junior technicians when needed
Maintain accurate service records and documentation
Follow safety procedures and dealership policies
Stay current with GM training, service bulletins, and new vehicle technologies (including EV and hybrid systems)
