About The Position

Overview: Serves as primary Bank representative overseeing the development and implementation of security crisis policies and procedures, operational playbooks, physical security threat detection, initial triage/incident response, and timely and accurate security crisis messaging capabilities of the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC). Ensures Bank leadership priorities are consistently reflected in the daily operations of the Center, staffed by contracted security personnel. Oversees and optimizes the performance of the contracted staff, ensuring alignment with the Bank’s strategic security objectives, while fostering a proactive security posture across the enterprise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Business Management, or related field and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in physical security operations, security crisis management, incident response management, and/or related field, or in lieu of a degree a combined minimum of 9 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 5 years’ experience in physical security operations, security crisis management, incident response management, and/or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years’ supervisory and/or work leadership experience
  • Demonstrated crisis management experience
  • Proven analytical skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with physical security technologies, including access control, video surveillance, alarm systems, and visitor management systems

Responsibilities

  • Lead the activities of 24/7 contract security personnel assigned to the Global Security Operations Center. Monitor their performance, adherence to protocols, and compliance with contractual obligations to maximize value and effectiveness.
  • In conjunction with Crisis Management, lead the planning, coordinating, and executing of crisis response efforts for physical security incidents across the Bank’s footprint.
  • Develop and implement strategic goals, policies, procedures, and processes that enhance situational awareness, physical security threat detection, and security crisis response capabilities.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to ensure proactive physical security and intelligence monitoring operations.
  • Serve as senior decision-maker during critical incidents as it relates to initial triage, coordination, timely reporting, and leadership escalation.
  • Lead daily operational briefings for Corporate Security leadership and the Protective Intelligence team.
  • Coordinate after-action reviews for critical security incidents and implement improvements as needed.
  • Assess and implement physical security systems and incident management software solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
  • Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and playbooks for GSOC functions.
  • Provide regular reporting to Corporate Security leadership on incident trends, response times, and contract workforce performance.
  • Regularly coordinate and lead internal, tabletop exercises (TTX) for the GSOC and Protective Intelligence staff to ensure operational readiness and effective communication across multiple M&T Bank corporate functions in the event of a critical security incident.
  • Assist Administrative Operations and Business Analytics team in budgetary planning, data and incident reporting for the Corporate Security Department.
  • Provide thought leadership in emergency and security crisis preparedness and response, while continuously developing expertise in GSOC technology solutions and industry best practices.
  • Coordinate activities with contracted security supervisors to ensure staff are trained in Bank-specific procedures, escalation standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Lead liaison efforts among M&T Bank Corporate Security, contracted security management, and Crisis Management and Business Continuity to ensure seamless communication and alignment on security priorities, incident response, and crisis management.
  • Serve as liaison with external law enforcement and industry partners for information sharing and trend analysis.
  • Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.
  • Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis.
  • Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports a culture of belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
