The Global Head of Environmental Health, Safety & Sustainability (EHS&S) is accountable for the enterprise-wide strategy, governance, and performance of EHS&S across global operations. This role provides executive leadership to ensure the protection of people, stewardship of the environment, effective risk management, and advancement of sustainability priorities across the end-to-end value chain, including R&D, Supply Chain, Facilities, and Commercial activities. Reporting to the VP Global RE, FM& Corporate Operations, this role establishes direction, sets governance, and ensures consistent execution of EHS&S management systems worldwide. The Global Head of EHS&S leads a diverse global organization comprising functional, regional, and systems leadership and serves as the senior authority for EHS&S risk, compliance, and performance.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related technical discipline.
Typically 10+ years of progressive experience in environmental, health, safety, sustainability, facilities risk, operations or related disciplines, including senior leadership roles with global scope in complex, multi-site, and regulated operating environments.
Demonstrated global leadership experience, including accountability for strategy, governance, and performance across multiple regions and geographies.
Proven ability to lead large, globally distributed organizations with both functional and regional leadership structures.
Deep expertise in environmental, health, safety, and sustainability management systems, regulatory compliance, and enterprise risk management.
Experience advising executive leadership on EHS&S risks, opportunities, and implications of business strategy and capital investment.
Exceptional leadership presence, judgment, and communication skills, with the ability to influence at executive and board-adjacent levels.

Nice To Haves

Advanced degree in a relevant technical, scientific, or business discipline.
Experience leading EHS&S at an enterprise or sector level; familiarity with global sustainability frameworks and external reporting; experience integrating EHS&S with facilities, risk management, and enterprise governance.

Responsibilities

Defines and leads the global EHS&S strategy, ensuring alignment with enterprise risk management, facilities strategy, and business priorities across R&D, Supply Chain, Facilities, and Commercial functions.
Establishes enterprise-level governance, standards, and management systems for environmental protection, occupational health and safety, and sustainability, ensuring consistent implementation and accountability worldwide.
Serves as the senior executive owner of EHS&S risk, providing oversight of significant risks, incidents, regulatory matters, and emerging issues, and ensuring appropriate escalation and mitigation.
Leads and develops a global EHS&S leadership organization, including functional, regional, and systems leadership, building capability, succession, and leadership depth.
Oversees enterprise EHS&S performance monitoring and assurance, including management reviews, audits, metrics, and corrective actions, driving continuous improvement and sustained performance.
Acts as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on EHS&S implications of business strategy, capital investments, acquisitions, and transformation initiatives.
Represents the organization externally with regulators, industry bodies, and other stakeholders on EHS&S and sustainability matters.
Provides executive leadership during crisis management situations involving significant safety, environmental, or sustainability risk.
Sponsors enterprise-wide EHS&S transformation, capability-building, and continuous improvement initiatives.
