About The Position

Vertex is seeking a highly experienced and strategic leader to join our team as the Senior Director, Global Commercial Strategy – Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing the global commercial strategy for our T1D portfolio. You will work cross-functionally and with external stakeholders to ensure the successful commercialization of innovative therapies that address the unmet needs of patients with T1D. This is a high-impact role that requires a strong background in global strategic marketing, US market experience, expertise in market development for breakthrough therapies, and the ability to drive strategic initiatives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Life Sciences, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or healthcare industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful global commercial strategies, especially in endocrinology or immunology.
  • Experience in a global strategic marketing function, with a demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategies across multiple geographies.
  • Direct experience in the US market, including a strong understanding of its unique dynamics, stakeholders, and regulatory environment.
  • Strong experience in market development for breakthrough therapies, with a focus on innovative and patient-centered approaches.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a demonstrated ability to inspire and develop high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Experience in product launch planning and execution on a global scale.
  • Strong business acumen and financial modeling skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the global commercial strategy for Vertex’s T1D portfolio, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and market needs.
  • Conduct in-depth market analysis to identify opportunities, challenges, and trends in the T1D therapeutic area.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, medical affairs, regulatory, and market access, to ensure seamless integration of commercial strategies.
  • Drive the development of launch plans, including market segmentation, positioning, pricing, and promotional strategies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, patient advocacy groups, and industry partners.
  • Provide strategic guidance to regional and local commercial teams to ensure successful execution of global strategies, with a particular focus on the US market.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the T1D portfolio, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Represent the commercial perspective in internal decision-making forums and provide input into clinical development plans.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
