About The Position

The Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML) is hiring GIS Analysts to join their Fort Collins, Colorado office. The GIS Analysts will be integral members of an interdisciplinary team of environmental and cultural resource specialists. The purpose of the role is to support federal land managers in ensuring military activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, and policies. The GIS Analysts will expand the team’s current GIS capabilities by working with staff to manage geospatial products for a project focused on facilitating compliance and stakeholder engagement on federal lands. This will be a permanent, full-time (40 hours/week) position, depending on continued funding. The position will be located at Colorado State University’s main campus in Fort Collins, Colorado, with work primarily office-based, though fully remote work may be possible.

Requirements

  • B.S./B.A. in Geography, Ecology, Anthropology/Archeology, Natural Resources Management, or a related field
  • Three years of relevant professional experience
  • 1+ year of professional experience in ArcGIS 10.X, ArcPro, Hub Premium, Experience Builder
  • Experience managing cloud-based platforms to facilitate stakeholder engagement
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Pre-employment Criminal Background Check
  • Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license by the employment start date
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. by proposed start date
  • Must be able to pass a federal background investigation to obtain a Department of Defense Installation Access Pass
  • You will need to possess a Real ID or passport

Nice To Haves

  • M.S. in Geography, Ecology, Anthropology/Archaeology, Natural Resources Management, or a related field
  • Experience with Department of Defense GIS data models and standards (e.g. Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment [SDSFIE]; Federal Geographic Data Committee's [FGDC] Content Standard for Digital Spatial Metadata [CSDGM])
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Automate
  • Experience with cultural and/or natural resource management on federal lands
  • Working knowledge of cultural and/or natural resource-related regulatory policy (National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA))

Responsibilities

  • Using ArcGIS Hub Premium to facilitate stakeholder engagement with complex projects
  • Creating and maintaining ArcGIS Experience Builder apps
  • Feature class development
  • Completing metadata
  • Managing data in ArcGIS Online
  • Developing Survey123 and ArcGIS Field Maps data forms
  • Create ArcGIS Hub site, experience builder apps, dashboards for stakeholder engagement
  • Administer project data
  • Collaborate with team GIS PM, Project Leads, stakeholders, and staff to identify tasks, develop schedules, and complete workflows
  • Create automated workflows with Microsoft Power Automate
  • Coordinate with team members and project stakeholders
  • Develop scripts for data management or analysis
  • Understand requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA)
  • Participate in fieldwork and other tasks
  • Independent and collaborative group work will be required
