Role Summary: · The GIS Analyst is an entry-level GIS role with various responsibilities to support Buckeye’s GIS program.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent coursework required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Typically, 0-3 years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications required.
  • Competency with ESRI suite of products preferred.
  • Competency with SQL, FME (or other ETL tool), Python or other programming languages is helpful.
  • 5% of travel possible.
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal, as well as strong organizational skills are paramount.
  • In order to be successful in this position, one must have excellent analytical skills to resolve business and operations problems and have good communication skills to consult with users to provide technical assistance.
  • The individual must be well organized with the ability to keep accurate records and provide status updates.
  • This position requires the ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and or/quantitative productivity standards.
  • This role requires the ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • This position requires compliance with all personnel policies.
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc.
  • This role continuously operates a computer and other office equipment.

  • You must work independently and be able to exercise tact, discretion, and professionalism when dealing with internal and external customers, and when handling sensitive and confidential information.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the implementation of Buckeye’s GIS programs including, but not limited to, Performing and/or assisting with data collection tasks as assigned by GIS staff.
  • Providing data maintenance support as directed by and with oversight from GIS staff.
  • Performing basic data analysis, using common geoprocessing tools.
  • Following instruction for more complex analyses.
  • Executing job functions with understanding of data quality control procedures.
  • Performing data validation exercises to ensure data quality.
  • Supporting various data integration efforts by performing data entry, editing, and/or validation tasks.
  • Delivering on ad-hoc and routine data and map requests for internal customers, limited in scope and as directed by GIS staff.
  • Maintaining good communication and engagement with direct participants in projects or work tasks.
  • Provided support for Asset Integrity Team members.
  • And other duties as assigned.
