About The Position

Is responsible for directing staff, keeping accurate inventory and assisting in the overall management of the Shooting Star Retail Department. In all interactions, the position is responsible for providing STAR Experience to guests and fellow team members a first priority. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Shooting Star Casino team members will always deliver excellent guest service to our guests and fellow co-workers. Our Star Service expectations include being: WELCOMING – Make every person feel invited and accepted PROACTIVE – Anticipate Guest needs UNIQUE – Create a one-of-a-kind experience at every opportunity RESOURCEFUL – Resolve the need COMPLETE – Take care and close Carries out supervisory responsibilities with assigned staff to retain and motivate a professional workforce for Shooting Star Casino, Hotel & Event Center. Coordinates training process for Team Members. Plans, assigns and directs work. Administers performance appraisal process. Rewards and disciplines Team Members. Coordinates pricing strategies on merchandise to maximize profitability of store operations. Calculate costs and retail pricing to ensure proper mark up of each item to maximize profits. Ensures that each item is entered into system, barcodes and priced before placed on the selling floor to maintain inventory and sale accuracy. Prepares promotion activities and oversees coordination efforts of advertising and displays. Make sure proper signage is put up, tracking the items on sale. Make sure clerks are aware of the sale and what the price change and discounts will be. Give financial reports to accounting on the sale items, tracking the number of sales each month. Provides assistance in ordering merchandise and supplies, to ensure adequate stock is maintained and purchase procedures are followed. Conducts periodic inventory counts on merchandise. Orders merchandise with manager approval. Listens and responds to guest concerns to maintain a high level of guest satisfaction. Assists guest person to person, or via telephone or e-mail. Drafts professional correspondence. Listens to guests’ questions and/or comments and provides information as needed. Applies problem-solving techniques as necessary. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate degree (AA) or equivalent of two-year college or technical school.
  • Minimum of one-year retail experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must meet the requirements as prescribed by the Tribal-State compact for Gaming.
  • Knowledge of and skill in using personal computer and related software.
  • Skill in basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, fractions, percentages and decimals.
  • Ability to create a purchase order, read and intrepid invoices and packing slips.
  • To define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Process of entering new items into inventory.
  • Process of creating barcodes for merchandise.
  • Knowledge to do corrections on till system for accurate record keeping.
  • Ability to work with other departments to get the needed assistance to keep the operations running smoothly.
  • Ability to work as a clerk, if needed.
  • Knowledge of correct cash handling procedures.
  • Ability to handle a variety of customer complaints and grievances in a professional manner.
  • Ability to order merchandise for the shop or for special orders for customers.
  • Ability to foresee changes needed in staffing.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply commonly accepted rules of grammar, spelling and punctuation in written communication to develop management reports and summaries.
  • Ability to work cooperatively within a group to make the work of the group successful and effective.
  • Knowledge of the processes needed from ordering to selling a given item.
  • Ability to following procedures and give attention to detail.
  • Ability to occasionally stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to occasionally sit for long periods of time.
