The Gift Shop Manager is responsible for developing and executing merchandising strategies that maximize sales, margin, inventory turnover, and visual presentation. Supervise the daily operations of the Gift Shop Serves as buyer, meeting with vendors and product representatives to select marketable goods and gifts appropriate to the potential buying audience, season of the year and recognized customer demand. Optimizing sales through strategic planning Set prices for retail merchandise. Responsible for display, merchandising, promotions, and marketing Possesses complete knowledge of POS system. Generate and analyze POS generated reports and monthly financial reports. Participate in yearly budget process. Plans, supervises, and participates in annual physical inventory. Provide excellent customer service, maintain a welcoming environment and address customer complaints/issues. Meet the needs of other departments such as requests for special events or floral arrangements/gift items for service recovery, donors and other VIPs. Train and supervise volunteers. Monitor and maintain proper volunteer staffing level and apprise Department Director of any issues. Assist with recruitment, appreciation, and retention of volunteers. Effectively uses and role models current leadership techniques and theories, encouraging the decision-making skills of volunteers and providing insight and leadership in complex situations. Ensures that information disseminated to volunteers is monitored for effectiveness and changed as needed. Understands and enforces hospital and personnel policies and procedures. Serve on hospital and Patient Care Services committees, teams, and work groups as requested. Performs other duties as assigned.
