About The Position

The Gift Shop Attendant is responsible for creating a welcoming and engaging retail experience for guests visiting Hermitage Farm and Barn8. This role blends hospitality and retail, ensuring the shop is well-stocked, visually appealing, and reflective of the property’s unique offerings.

The ideal candidate is friendly, detail-oriented, and enjoys interacting with guests while sharing knowledge about local products, artisan goods, and the Hermitage Farm experience. This individual takes pride in maintaining an organized and inviting space while supporting daily retail operations.

Requirements

• Previous retail or hospitality experience preferred, but not required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a guest-first mindset.
• Ability to multitask and stay organized in a dynamic environment.
• Basic math and cash handling skills.
• Attention to detail with an eye for merchandising and presentation.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly and provide a memorable, personalized shopping experience.
• Share knowledge of retail products, including local goods, branded merchandise, and specialty items.
• Operate the POS system accurately for purchases, returns, and exchanges.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing retail space, including displays and merchandising.
• Restock shelves, monitor inventory levels, and communicate low-stock items to leadership.
• Assist with receiving, unpacking, and organizing new merchandise deliveries.
• Support the execution of seasonal displays, promotions, and special retail features.
• Answer guest questions about the property, offerings, and experiences at Hermitage Farm and Barn8.
• Uphold company standards for service, presentation, and professionalism.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and reconciliation.
• Maintain cleanliness of the shop and surrounding guest areas.
• Support additional tasks as needed to ensure smooth daily operations.
