The Gift Accounting Specialist role is for a forward-thinking problem-solver with a strong accounting foundation. This position is responsible for the accuracy of revenue and gift credit across IUF's financial systems, providing the financial foundation that makes IUF's philanthropic work possible.

Requirements

  • Associate degree required
  • Minimum of two years of professional work experience in accounting or a related field
  • Combinations of relevant education and experience will be considered
  • Foundational knowledge of accounting principles and general ledger reconciliation
  • Advanced analytical and critical thinking skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills
  • Comfort working with CRM and financial systems
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage AI or emerging tools to support workflow efficiency
  • Ability to manage high-volume workloads and meet strict fiscal deadlines with consistency
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to translate financial and technical concepts for non-specialist audiences
  • Collaborative working style with the ability to build relationships across departments and functions
  • Self-directed and proactive, with a demonstrated ability to identify process improvement opportunities and follow through

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Own the reconciliation cycle, generating reports, reviewing entries, and ensuring gift and revenue data is accurate and complete.
  • Contribute directly to gift processing.
  • Manage holding accounts.
  • See adjustments through from initiation to resolution.
  • Support quality assurance reviews.
  • Assist in research through our Crimson database.
  • Serve as backup for various payroll processes.
  • Serve as the liaison between Revenue Operations, Accounting, IT, and more, building strong connections and communicating across departments.
  • Ensure daily communication on accounting issues is consistent.
  • Ensure reconciliation discrepancies are documented.
  • Ensure Merchant Services has the support they need to keep online giving transactions running smoothly.
