The Gift Accounting Specialist position is for a forward-thinking problem-solver with a strong accounting foundation, responsible for the accuracy of revenue and gift credit across IUF's financial systems, which is crucial for the foundation's philanthropic work.

Requirements

Associate degree required
Minimum of two years of professional work experience in accounting or a related field
Combinations of relevant education and experience will be considered
Foundational knowledge of accounting principles and general ledger reconciliation
Advanced analytical and critical thinking skills with meticulous attention to detail
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills
Comfort working with CRM and financial systems
Demonstrated ability to leverage AI or emerging tools to support workflow efficiency
Ability to manage high-volume workloads and meet strict fiscal deadlines with consistency
Strong communication skills, including the ability to translate financial and technical concepts for non-specialist audiences
Collaborative working style with the ability to build relationships across departments and functions
Self-directed and proactive, with a demonstrated ability to identify process improvement opportunities and follow through

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree preferred
Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau is preferred

Responsibilities

Own the reconciliation cycle, generating reports, reviewing entries, and ensuring gift and revenue data is accurate and complete
Contribute directly to gift processing
Manage holding accounts
See adjustments through from initiation to resolution
Support quality assurance reviews
Assist in research through our Crimson database
Serve as backup for various payroll processes
Serve as the liaison between Revenue Operations, Accounting, IT, and more, building strong connections and communicating across departments
Ensure daily communication on accounting issues is consistent
Ensure reconciliation discrepancies are documented
Ensure Merchant Services has the support they need to keep online giving transactions running smoothly
