Through funding provided by the Getty Foundation for the Getty Marrow Undergraduate Internship, the Education Department of the Skirball Cultural Center offers one summer internship to a qualified undergraduate student. The Education Intern will help develop, coordinate, and facilitate on-campus programs for family audiences related to the award-winning permanent children’s and family destination Noah’s Ark at the Skirball, the Archaeology Dig, the Family Art Studio, the new Bloom Garden and rotating Skirball exhibitions. Dates/Hours: The full-time summer internship will be held in-person at the Skirball Cultural Center. (40 hours/week), with a stipend of $7,400 (approx. $18.50/hr.), for a consecutive ten-week work period starting June 2 and ending August 9. The schedule is Tuesday – Saturday, 9:00 am to 5:30 pm. Responsibilities: Work with Education and Family Programs team members to develop, coordinate, and facilitate educational summer programming for family visitors. These programs are designed for people of all ages but intended to serve our primary audience of children and their families ages 8 and under. Play a pivotal, front-facing role in supporting and facilitating interactive programs for families in the Family Art Studio, Archaeology Dig, outdoor Winnick Amphitheater and Breezeway, and Bloom Garden. Programs include storytelling, musical programs, and artmaking activities led by guest artists and Skirball educators. Serve as a facilitator in the Family Art Studio, Noah’s Ark, and at the outdoor Archaeology Dig site, as needed. Contribute to research on upcoming projects and assist with visitor surveys and other data collection that inform Education and Family Programs. Qualifications, Experience, and Attributes: Interest in building a career in the arts, arts education, museum education, or related field. Ability to work directly with families and visitors of all ages and backgrounds in a warm and welcoming manner. Ability to work as a team player with a professional, positive attitude. Ability to work in a fast-paced, multisensory, stimulating work environment. Ability to problem-solve independently and collaborate with others. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Physical ability to work multiple hours with sustained energy in a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces with variable conditions (heat, cold, etc.) Interest in learning about Jewish culture. Available to work Saturdays and occasional evenings. Eligibility: Applicants must fulfill the following requirements: Be currently enrolled as a full –time undergraduate student in either a Bachelor's degree program or an Associate’s degree program. Students must have completed at least one semester or two quarters of college by June 2026. Students who graduated this semester or quarter immediately before the internship begins are also eligible. (Students who are enrolled in a second BA or BS program are not eligible.) Attend college in or be a permanent resident of LA County. Be a United States citizen or permanent resident (non-citizen authorized to live and work in the United States on a permanent basis; also known as a "green card" holder). Students with DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival) status valid through the internship period are eligible While this internship is intended for students from backgrounds underrepresented in museums and visual arts professions, eligible candidates from all backgrounds will be considered. Candidates are sought from all areas of undergraduate study at any higher education institution – community college, trade school, and public and private university – and are not required to demonstrate a previous commitment to the visual arts. Candidates will have the opportunity to show their interest in museums and visual arts professions and how they might add diverse and underrepresented perspectives, which can include – among other things – socio-economic status, cultural background, physical or other disability, geographical origin, and/or any other life experiences.
