A Day in the Life of a Geospatial Discipline Manager at Hanson Here's a snapshot of what you would do in this role:

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, geography, GIS, or related field-or equivalent experience/training
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in geospatial projects and GIS data analytics
  • Minimum 5 years of team management experience
  • Experience leading teams in both field and office environments
  • Proficiency with Trimble Business Center and ArcGIS (required)
  • Familiarity with traditional surveying methods and practices (required)
  • Strong leadership and people management capabilities
  • Ability to manage projects and tasks within budget and schedule
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Self-motivated with a desire to continuously learn and grow
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to collaborate remotely with colleagues across multiple offices
  • Willingness to travel and work overtime as needed
  • Up to 20% travel
  • Valid driver's license required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience applying geospatial technologies to asset management programs (preferred)
  • Surveyor-in-Training (S.I.T.), Professional Land Surveyor (PLS), or GIS Professional (GISP) certification (preferred or ability to obtain)
  • Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Pix4D, and TopoDOT (desirable)

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of geospatial professionals including GIS analysts, surveyors, technicians, and specialists
  • Oversee and perform tasks related to LIDAR, photogrammetry, boundary research, and field surveys (route and property)
  • Guide teams in developing plats, extracting data, and building engineering models from various sources
  • Acquire and process remotely sensed data for use by engineers and technical staff
  • Manage day-to-day operations and mentor staff across experience levels
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define GIS strategies and solutions
  • Apply advanced survey methods using robotic total stations, 3D terrestrial scanners, GPS, mobile mapping systems, and aerial mapping techniques
  • Other duties as assigned
