The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Assistant Professor-In-Residence, Department of Geoscience [R0150526]. ROLE of the POSITION The Department of Geoscience at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for a full-time, nine-month non-tenure track teaching faculty position (Assistant Professor-in- Residence), beginning Fall 2026. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses at all levels, including introductory courses for science and non-science majors; develop and lead laboratory and/or field components of the curriculum; and contribute to the teaching and assessment of core curriculum requirements in Geology and Earth and Environmental Sciences. The Department seeks a dynamic and enthusiastic individual with a strong commitment to undergraduate education who will mentor undergraduate students, contribute to departmental service, and assist in maintaining, improving, and assessing undergraduate learning outcomes, laboratories, and field instruction. Opportunities for career advancement are available based on demonstrated excellence in teaching and continued professional development. The UNLV Geoscience Department comprises 21 faculty members, approximately 150 undergraduate students, and more than 40 M.S. and Ph.D. students. The department supports a wide range of laboratory facilities. Located within a two-hour drive of numerous world-class geological sites, the UNLV campus provides an exceptional setting for field-based research and education. UNLV is a Carnegie R1 research institution, ranks among the nation’s most diverse campuses, and hosts graduate programs consistently rated among the top 100 nationally, including Geoscience. Requirements

  • This position requires a PhD in Geology or closely related disciplines from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)
  • Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.
