The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Assistant Professor-in-Residence (FIR) positions in the Department of Mathematical Sciences [R0150534]. ROLE of the POSITION The Department of Mathematical Sciences are looking to fill one or more Non-Tenure-Track Assistant Professor-in-Residence (FIR) positions, commencing Fall 2026. The successful candidate(s) are expected to teach effectively four classes of math/stat in each fall and spring semester. These four classes typically include courses such as MATH 120, 124, 126, 127, 128, 132, and STAT 152. The FIRs are required to perform all standard teaching duties, including holding regularly scheduled office hours, and providing mid-semester grades and assessment data for the classes taught. The successful candidate(s) are also encouraged to provide service to the students and the Department. During summers (approximately May 15 – August 15), there are no duties; however, there is often an opportunity to teach for additional compensation. Based on the UNLV Bylaws, FIRs will have the opportunity to be promoted to Associate and Full Faculty in Residence.
