Position: Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics Location: One Trinity Place, San Antonio, TX 78212 Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate mathematical courses. The Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, will be responsible for teaching three (3) mathematics courses (nine semester units) per academic semester. Will evaluate and grade students’ class work assignments, and papers, as well as initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions. Create and teach courses in the areas of mathematics. Will be responsible for preparing and delivering lectures to undergraduate students on various mathematical topics. Will prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts, as well as plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction. Maintain a program of scholarly activity, which includes peer-reviewed publications and participation in conferences and seminars. Stay knowledgeable of developments in Mathematics by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional organizations and conferences. Participate in Trinity University’s Pathways curriculum. Will collaborate with members of the business community to improve programs, to develop new programs, and to provide student access to learning opportunities such as internships. Provide service to the University, the department and the community at a level that is expected for faculty at the same rank. The Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics will serve on Trinity University’s academic and administrative committees that deal with institutional policies, departmental matters, and academic issues. Educ./experience: Ph.D. degree or foreign equivalent in Mathematics or related field, plus one year of post-baccalaureate experience as a Postdoctoral Fellow, Assistant Professor, or in a related position in the Mathematics field. Experience must include: Teaching college-level mathematics coursework including Probability & Statistics with Python, Single and Multi-variable Calculus; Computational & Analytical Skills; Applying Python, R, and statistical methods for data analysis, modeling, and reporting; Creating and delivering courses (Probability & Statistics for Engineers, Calculus, Linear Algebra, Probability) with customized worksheets, projects, and interactive labs; Utilizing educational technologies (Blackboard, Canvas, Gradescope, Sakai) to design course content; Incorporating interactive mathematical software (Desmos, GeoGebra) into classroom activities.
