About The Position

Turf Hotels, Inc. is currently seeking a hands-on, experienced, and energetic General Manager for the Homewood Suites Albany . The General Manager is responsible for focusing on achieving hotel profitability through revenue generation, cost control, guest satisfaction and developing employees, while maintaining the integrity of the hotel and protection of the asset.

Requirements

  • Ability to work flexible hours including days, evenings, weekends and holidays, as required.
  • Ability to follow all safety policies and procedures within the hotel and respond properly to any hotel emergency or safety situation.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to work harmoniously and professionally with all associates.
  • Ability to sit/stand for extended period of time to continuously perform essential job functions.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities are used often.
  • Self-starter, self-motivated, hardworking.
  • Ability to remain calm and courteous even in difficult situations and to turn a guest complaint into an outstanding experience.
  • Ability to be a clear thinker, analyze and resolve problems exercising good judgment.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years' hotel experience as a General Manager or Assistant General Manager

Nice To Haves

  • 2- or 4-year college degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Orchestrate the activities of the department managers and hourly associates to ensure that guests receive a high level of service, sales are maximized, associates are satisfied, and profit meets expectations.
  • Oversee managers in the hotel such as the Front Office Manager, Housekeeping Manager, Chief Engineer, and Director of Sales.
  • Maintain open and effective communication.
  • Ensure that managers and associates maintain hotel cleanliness and maintenance to protect the asset.
  • Ensure compliance with hotel brand standards.
  • Create the culture in the hotel to ensure that the hotel complies with accounting standards.
  • Coach, counsel, discipline, train, and mentor managers and associates to deliver excellent performance and to reach their personal development goals.
  • Interview and hire associates at all levels in the hotel.
  • Ensure all areas of the hotel are inspected daily for compliance to standards, policies and safety procedures.
  • Maximize revenue through sales efforts, yield management, and cost control.
  • Attend mandatory meetings.
  • Participate in community public relations for the company.
  • Keep work area clean and organized.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by Corporate.
  • Demonstrate positive leadership characteristics which inspire team members to meet and exceed standards.
