CNA’s National Accounts Casualty, Large Casualty team provides primary casualty insurance products such as General Liability, Commercial Auto, and Workers’ Compensation to large businesses. Our National Accounts team underwrites a diverse mix of business and industry classes including Manufacturing, Professional Services, Construction, Financial Institutions, Healthcare, Real-estate, Distributors, Technology, Wholesale, and Retail. Typical account sizes start at $500,000 and up in premium on a multi-line basis and works with national brokers. Under general supervision is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of new and renewal insurance applications. Partnering with Underwriters on all aspects of the Underwriting function including providing the necessary information to allow for UW to make prudent underwriting decisions. Provides high-level support to underwriters. JOB DESCRIPTION: Essential Duties & Responsibilities Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines: Manages the work activities and has full management accountability for the performance and development of subordinate staff in accordance with corporate strategic direction. Sets direction and establishes performance goals including stretch goals and communicates progress, addressing issues that impact service provided by the teams. Through collaboration with others, establishes and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external customers and assists subordinates in resolving high visibility problem cases or issues. Acts with a sense of urgency and takes accountability for resolving issues. Generates ideas for process and technology improvements within and across businesses and implements change. Prepares high level cost benefit analysis. Focuses on increased responsiveness, resolving issues and continuously raising the quality of work. Makes decisions utilizing data management tools and key metrics to ensure business alignment and commitment and growth objectives are met. Participates in the development of, annual plans including budgets, forecasts, workforce and business continuity plans. Manages and monitors performance against plan. Responsible for staying up to date on trends and developments within functional area of expertise as well as the insurance industry. May be responsible for facilitation and coordination of training initiatives. Reporting Relationship: Typically Director or above
