Join us in taking the first step toward creating a future that combines a diverse, challenging work environment with financial security and career satisfaction Job Summary The Property & Casualty Claims Manager oversees the functions of the Property & Casualty Claims team, managing accountabilities in the administration of property & casualty claims. This is a leadership and supervisory position that manages processes, training, and collaboration amongst Claims Advocates as well as operational sales support and client related services. This position may also assume the duties and responsibilities of a Claims Advocate, providing interpretation of property & casualty claims analysis, advocacy, and dispute resolution, act as liaison between Clients, adjusters, lawyers and insurance companies, claims management and other related client services.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • 10+ years property & casualty claims adjustment experience (brokerage preferred) or equivalent combination of education & experience
  • Property & Causality License preferred
  • Confidence and demeanor to effectively interact with all levels within the organization.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook and agency management systems.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Critical Thinking: Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks and responsibilities in order to complete assignments on time and with optimal accuracy.
  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate orally and in writing with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships; work effectively with insurance and service vendors to gain cooperation in meeting clients’ needs.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and provides mentorship to claims representatives residing at multiple offices.
  • Ensures client questions / concerns are addressed by claims department or Third Party Administrator.
  • Develops, implements and enforces property & casualty claims procedures, processes, and reporting practices.
  • Handles high profile clients property & casualty claims for top 200 accounts.
  • Builds trust with external and internal executive teams through direct interactions and presentations.
  • Meets with clients to discuss on reserve adequacy and proper claims handling.
  • Provides and supports clients with claims solutions specific to their business operations.
  • Assists clients in managing their potential exposures and risks associated with their specific operations.
  • Coordinates and conduct claim reviews with multiple insurance carriers &/or TPA’s.
  • Assists with marketing and sales of claims management services to prospective new accounts.
  • Communicates and strategize with insureds, carriers, TPAs, adjusters, attorneys’ etc. to settlement.
  • Reviews policies to determine coverage for appropriate reporting.
  • Reads summons’ leases’ and contracts for the purpose of determining proper handling of claim as well as liability and/or insurable interest, indemnification and hold harmless.
  • Maintains diary of files for follow-up and document all follow-ups via notes in database for phone work or via letters of confirmation.
  • Maintains accurate and organized claim files by appropriately documenting conversations with clients and carrier representatives; updates all HUB computer systems and automated agency management systems; ensures the accuracy of data.
  • Creates and maintain claim trending, lag time reports and loss analysis of complex claims.
  • Navigates various carrier databases.
  • Hands-on interaction with account service units.
  • Reviews carrier coverage position letters and as appropriate create correspondence disputing the carrier position.
  • Acts as a liaison to other offices with regard to the distribution of work / claims.
  • Leads the integration of acquired claims personnel and operations into HUB’s standards and workflows, including conducting comprehensive skills assessments of incoming staff; develops and executes transition plans that ensure continuity of service and alignment.
  • Acts as a resource for problem escalation when the team encounters complex issues. Reaches resolutions or identifies the need to further escalate an issue and communicates appropriately with all necessary parties.
  • Answers team member questions, helps with team member problems, and oversees team member work for quality and guideline compliance. Provide appropriate feedback and identify training opportunities.
  • Conducts annual performance reviews for all direct reports and assists in annual budgeting and ongoing operational expense monitoring for all locations/departments.
  • Conducts team meetings to update members on best practices, continuing expectations, assignments and responsibilities clearly and professionally.
  • Develops and executes product, service and technical training programs, sets departmental expectations, standards, policies and procedure and periodically audits/reviews standards to provide personnel coaching or feedback management.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
